Chris has put together a list of questions to provoke thought. I hope you take the time to ponder some of these questions.<br /><img src="file:///C:/Users/jsyeoman/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-15.jpg" alt="" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3048224764234254567.post-11940794644200046642009-04-07T12:57:00.001-07:002009-04-07T14:57:13.248-07:00The Trinity<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FqcRx-VuzYc/SdvLQwIH51I/AAAAAAAAABU/bYi5kfqJA2Y/s1600-h/Trinity.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322070873325692754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 185px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FqcRx-VuzYc/SdvLQwIH51I/AAAAAAAAABU/bYi5kfqJA2Y/s400/Trinity.jpg" border="0" /></a>This painting by <a href="http://www.makotofujimura.com/">Makoto Fujimura</a> is painted with mineral pigments on Japanese screen.<br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FqcRx-VuzYc/SduwNKFd1HI/AAAAAAAAABM/HlyZvLP8JYU/s1600-h/Makoto+Fujimura.bmp"></a><br /><br /><div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3048224764234254567.post-33707952284607306002009-04-07T12:19:00.001-07:002009-04-07T12:20:07.517-07:00The YeomanryIn the 1790s, the threat of invasion of the <a title="Kingdom of Great Britain" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Great_Britain">Kingdom of Great Britain</a> was high, after the <a title="French Revolution" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution">French Revolution</a> and the rise of <a class="mw-redirect" title="Napoleon Bonaparte" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Bonaparte">Napoleon Bonaparte</a>. In order to improve the country's defences, <a title="Volunteer" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volunteer">volunteer</a> <a class="mw-redirect" title="Regiments" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regiments">regiments</a> were raised in many <a class="mw-redirect" title="Counties" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties">counties</a> from <a title="Yeoman" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeoman">yeomen</a>. The word "yeoman" refers to small farmers who owned the land they cultivated, but the officers were drawn from the nobility and many of the men were their tenants. These regiments became known collectively as the Yeomanry. Members of the yeomanry were not obliged to serve overseas without their individual consent.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
